8 Causes for unhappiness in life

Why some people are always unhappy while others face same problems with smile on their face. Cicero, a famous philosopher and statesman of yesteryears (2000B.c) belonging to Italy (Rome), enumerated the following causes for unhappiness, which holds well for ever.   8 weaknesses in the personality of unhappy people: 1. Dominating mentality:Human in-born trait (may be weakness) is by suppressing others, we may achieve our goals and personally be benefitted. It is a wrong notion and of selfishness in nature. This type of thinking is merely an illusion and also we are building castles in air. 2. Un-necessarily worrying about the things or situations which we can’t change. It is a waste of time and energy also. 3. In-accurate estimation of our strengths and weaknesses and at certain times facing heavy losses during our career. 4.Many a time giving importance and evincing keen interest in petty things, which are of no use to us in any way. 5. Never trying sincerely to improve our mental power and not gaining maturity. 6. Always be under the impression that our views are only genuine and factual and also wishing that others also should give their consent to our beliefs. 7. Egoism: “I know everything and I need not other’s advice”. Ultimately such type of personalities will land in darkness and troubles. 8. Arguements: These types of people think that “arguing always pays and meekness is weakness”. But what is the remedy? The surest and simplest way is: Applying commonsense depending upon the situations. But the pitiable thing is, as quoted by a noble personality- “commonsense is uncommon with the common people”. Unhappiness leads to depression and is … [Read more...]

Art of Living by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Swamiji says-usually we heard the following statements from the people as: I, My life, what I achieved, my name and my fame. Does the above statement have any real meaning? Remember one thing: Our life is of very short duration on this earth. Many people lived here before your birth and they left this world already. We are also like that. No exception. Ignorance is the base of egoism. Usually you are of the opinion that ‘’I KNOW EVERY THING’’.First of all it is better to know about yourself, then the shallow in you comes out, and then the following questions gradually arise in you. They are:1. Who am I?2. Why I came to this world?3. What has to be achieved by me?If you could get answers to the above questions, then you stop thinking in these terms as below:1. Somebody said about me like this and that. That person did not answer to my enquiry or to my questions. By hook or crook I must my strength to them and teach them a lesson. Our life goes on depending on circumstances. Certain troubles are common in life, but you enjoy the every minute of life given by the Almighty - GOD.So do not go on worrying about minor ailments and spoil your life. The meaning of human being is filling happiness in the mind. Nothing will give trouble to us provided we have strong faith and loving others feeling in us.As everything available in this universe is not sweet, like that all our experiences are not good in nature. Sometimes we may commit mistakes. But have faith in you and think like this:I can face any trouble and GOD is there to look after me.Suppose you never did any mistakes in life and face no troubles, then you would never have pleasant moments in life. Failures and troubles … [Read more...]

Happiness and Anger

We never get happiness either from anger or jealousy. Nobody says like this: "today I am very happy why because I scolded somebody." If at all he wants to say something, he would say like this, "today I am very sad because I scolded someone with anger". So it is ridiculous to be happy when you are when you’re in angry mood. Anger is temporary madness and also anger is once enemy. Anger rises one's blood pressure.  How to get happiness?  1. Understanding one another 2. Excusing one another 3. Showing kindness to the helpless 4. Giving respect and taking respect 5. Having common-sense. (It is rightly said that “commonsense is” uncommon with the common people)  By observing the above five points we get:  1. Happyness 2. Mental peace 3. Satisfaction 4. Respect in the society  If we remove ‘D’ from “danger”, the remaining word is “anger”. So, it clearly shows anger and danger are bosom friends.    … [Read more...]
