Human mind is colorless, tasteless and smell less but it controls our actions, thoughts and emotions. When control over the mind is lost, certain mental problems or diseases develop.
How to control the mind?
The modern medical science is showing solutions to this deranged mind and irregular thoughts. This is called Psychotherapy. Here the psychologist, by talking to the patient, the root causes of his mental ills can be found out. It is also called ‘’talking therapy’’ because here the conversation between the patient and the physician is the main thing.

SIGMUND Freud is the father of this talking therapy. He recognized that the words can change the mind and with the help of conversation, mental problems can be solved. This method was found out by him 100 years back and was named as “psycho – analytical therapy”. Since 1960, new therapies came into existence.
The different types of therapies are as follows.
1. Cognitive behavioral therapy:
In every person, there are certain strong believes which controls his thoughts, his behavior etc.
These are called “core beliefs”. They develop negative attitude about him and his surroundings. His condition is jeopardized.
First, the doctor tries to find out his beliefs. The doctor explains in detail to the patient, about the defects in his beliefs and thoughts. Then the patient starts to find out how he is going on wrong route and tries to control his emotions and to change his behavior.
2. If any problem arises in a patient there, automatically develops irregular thoughts (automatic thoughts) in him. As these are negative thoughts, usually the patient develops anxiety, stress, fear, pain etc. Then the doctor makes the patient to recognize these symptoms and advises the patient, to have positive thoughts, so that the stress, anxiety etc, go away from his mind and the patient finds mental peace and calmness.
If necessary, the psychiatrist gives medicinal drugs to the patient. In 8-12 sittings between the doctor and the patient – the patient gradually learns how to cope up with his problems. The psychiatrist gives
Some “home work” to the patient, so that he knows how to handle those psychological problems.
